What makes a house a home to you?
Home for me right now is still the house I grew up in in Otterbein, so I guess you could say home for me is all about relationships and shared experiences.

S tepheney joined the Habitat staff as our Community Connector in 2015. She primarily oversees our Neighborhood Revitalization efforts in Lafayette, which she says “is a fancy way to say that [she gets] to meet and talk to a lot of really fantastic community members, hear what they have to say, and then figure out how we can help make things happen.”

Stepheney’s favorite part of her job is the people. She believes God has used her life and professional experiences to lead to her current role. She says, “I am able to be part of a team who has many of the same priorities as myself; I get to meet and work with neighbors in our target neighborhoods; I get to spend time with our dedicated volunteers and board members; and I get to meet the movers and shakers in our community who are seeking to transform our community for the better.

Stepheney’s Habitat involvement started when her sister, brother-in-law, and nephew became a Habitat partner family. She had a strong desire to work at a Christian organization, and after learning more about the Habitat mission and a position was offered to her, Stepheney knew Habitat was God’s will for her.

When she isn’t in the office, at the Bean Bag, or working in the community, you can find Stepheney spending time with her family, hanging out with friends at Sacred Grounds coffee shop, or serving with Harvest Chapel Ministry.

Stepheney believes God has used her life and professional experiences to lead to her current role.
