Enduring Principles

The Love of Jesus Christ in Action

Our ministry stems from our love of Jesus and our desire for others to understand they are loved. For Habitat, love sometimes looks like a new home, maybe a new roof, a safer community, but more often than not this love comes in the form of relationship.

Building and Improving Quality Housing

Manifesting God’s love, we seek to create opportunities for all people to live in quality housing. We put our faith into action by building, renovating and preserving homes and by partnering with others to broaden and accelerate access to affordable home ownership as a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty.

Supporting Sustainable and Life Transformational Development

We view our work as successful when it transforms lives and promotes positive and lasting social, economic and spiritual change within a community; when it is based on a mutual trust and fully shared sense of accomplishment; and when it demonstrates responsible stewardship of all resources entrusted to us.

Promoting Dignity and Hope

We believe that God intended for each and every person to live with dignity and hope. We believe that every person has something to contribute and something to gain from communities in which all people have safe, decent, affordable places to live. We believe that dignity and hope are best secured through creating access and opportunities toward achieving their purpose and destiny.

Advocating for Affordable Homeownership

We believe in affordable housing and strongly advocate for affordable homeownership. We support the global community’s commitment to housing as a basic human right. We will advocate for just and fair housing policy to eliminate the constraints that contribute to poverty housing. We will seek to put affordable housing on hearts and minds in such powerful ways that poverty housing becomes socially, politically and religiously unacceptable.
