Summer with Children Kayelynn and Kade

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”

Psalm 127:1

S ummer Oaks grew up in Tippecanoe County and graduated from Jefferson High School. Summer was able to help in a first grade classroom while she was in high school and that experience reinforced her love of children and her desire to be a mom and have a stable home of her own.

Summer’s Mom died recently but Summer has a special friend, Leeann, who is extremely supportive; Leeann taught Summer the art of cake decorating. When Leeann retired from her cake decorating position at Meijer, she recommended Summer for that position. Summer was hired and has been working at Meijer since then as a full-time cake decorator. Summer has other supportive family members and friends in her life as well.

Daughter Kayelynn is a chatty seven year old who just started second grade at Murdock School. Kayelynn is a careful, methodical girl who, according to her mom, “likes to know what she is doing.” Kayelynn also likes gymnastics, math class, dancing and riding her bike.

Son Kade is a blue-eyed, red-haired 18 month old with a big smile. He is a mellow boy who likes to push things like strollers and toy trucks.

Summer has accumulated a good number of sweat equity hours. Summer’s long-term goals include providing a stable home for herself and her children, becoming financially stable, and then going back to school to study early childhood education.
